Northumberland County Council have introduced a range of alternate telephone numbers for customer service.
Each is specific for a local area , and for the South East Northumberland area, including Blyth the new number is 01670 627000
This number will be in use as well as the existing 0845 number. Residents will have the choice of which number to use depending on the cost of the call. There will still be central
The single 0845 number has received some criticism because of the charges levied by some mobile phone companies, but it hasn't been replaced , just users given the choice.
I can see the point in replacing the number, but no figures have been released about the additional cost ( if any) to the council ( and therefore the residents of the county) in having 9 new numbers.
