On 1st April it is the first anniversary of the tragic death, in Afghanistan, of Guardsman Michael Sweeney.
To commemorate the anniversary his family have organised a Michael Sweeney Memorial Fayre, on Blyth Market Square . Monies raised will go towards supporting servicemen (former and current) and their families .
There will be a climbing wall, paintballing and the Blyth and Tyne pub will have a succession of bands from 12 noon.
I cannot be there, (family holiday) but I urge you all to get down to Blyth and support the day.
Don't worry about the weather, it's going to be glorious ..... trust me, I'm a politician !!
